Responsibilties of Oversight Committee

Membership:

  • University Physician, or Designee;
  • DPPS Police Chief or Designee
  • Director of MSU Risk Management or Designee
  • Director of Purchasing
  • Director of Environmental Safety
  • East Lansing Fire Department representative (ex officio)
  • General Counsel or Designee

This committee will meet at least twice a year, and more frequently, as needed. The members will be responsible for the following functions:

  • Updating of AED policy and communications regarding AED’s at MSU
  • Determining single type of AED to be on Campus
  • Maintaining ongoing record of all AED’s on campus, with this information shared with EMS of ELFD
  • Review of all unit requests for purchase of AED’s, consistent with criteria. ( see below), with approval or disapproval for purchase.
  • Annual review of departmental records for equipment maintenance, instruction of users on equipment.
  • Annual review of EMS response times to campus locations
  • Review of criteria for approval of equipment
  • Periodic audit of compliance with equipment maintenance and training (by ORCBS)
  • Review of each use of AED, or of tampering with AED equipment, close to the time of event.
  • An annual recommendation to VP for Operations and Finance and to the VP for Academic affairs for consideration of placement of AED’s in areas that meet criteria.
  • Annual report on AED use, placement, and compliance to VP for Operations and Finance, and VP for Academic affairs.
